Elections at Bunda University in Limbo as Candidates Rebel Against Commission's Decision

In a dramatic turn of events, the Bunda University student elections have been thrown into chaos after the electoral commission announced the cancellation of the polls citing technical problems and irregularities. The commission's decision has been met with fierce resistance from the candidates, who are demanding that the elections proceed as scheduled.

In a memo released on April 19, 2024, the Bunda Electoral Commission (BEC) announced the cancellation of the elections, citing system failure and irregularities. The commission apologized for the inconvenience caused and promised to reschedule the elections at a later date.

However, the candidates are having none of it. In a strongly-worded memo to the Director of Student Affairs, the BEC, the Faith-Based Organization (FBO), and the Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP), the candidates expressed their frustration and disappointment at the commission's decision.

The candidates claimed that they have spent significant time and resources on the electoral process and are "sick and tired" of the irregularities that have marred the process. They demanded that the elections proceed as scheduled, with voting taking place on April 20, 2024.

The candidates also made several other demands, including the replacement of the ICT team responsible for conducting the elections and the provision of catering services for their monitors.

In a veiled threat, the candidates warned that if the elections do not take place as scheduled, they will seek legal counsel and demand a refund of the costs they have incurred.

The standoff between the candidates and the electoral commission has left the student body in a state of uncertainty, with many students wondering what the future holds for the elections.

As the situation continues to unfold, one thing is clear: the candidates are determined to have their voices heard, and the electoral commission will need to find a solution quickly to avoid further chaos and disruption.
